Greasebugs Foam & Grease Destroyer is a super strength, specialized product that is formulated for use in all types of municipal, commercial and industrial applications for reducing foaming and enhancing sludge settling by destabilizing filamentous while reducing FOG & BOD/COD levels. Reduces need for the use of polymers, lowers solids production, increases settling and odors while increasing plant efficiency and effluent quality.
Greasebugs Foam & Grease Destroyer is effective in oxidation ditches, activated sludge plants, SBRs, extended aeration waste water treatment plants, and aerobic digestors with foaming or settling issues.
Filaments like Microthrix Parvicella, Nocardia, and Type 1863 can be controlled through the use of Foam & Grease Destroyer and heavy wasting programs. Foam & Grease Destroyer energizes the naturally occurring bacteria so they have tools to degrade FOG, long and short chain fatty acids, and surfactants, which all contribute to foaming. Foam & Grease Destroyer starves these harmful filaments by removing their food source ... fats, oils, grease, and fatty acids.

The biological stimulants in Foam Breaker empower the naturally occurring bacteria to rapidly digest the grease that the filaments need to survive. Meanwhile, Foam Breaker's vitamins enable certain cellular functions to accomplish this task. Once the degradation of F.O.G. and fatty acids improves, these troublesome filaments cannot survive on the dwindling food supply.
Foam Breaker also contains minerals, surface-tension depressants, and natural buffering systems, all of which work together to rid your plant of surfactant and emulsion chemistries as well as F.O.G. and fatty acids.
Often, when a wastewater plant gets foam, operators will add a chemical defoamer or an anti-foam to knock the foam down. Chemical defoamers work by covering up the problem for a period of time. In addition chemical defoamers can cause sludge bulking issues, nitrifier toxicity and they will not control Nocardia or surfactant foams. Silicone anti-foams break down into siloxanes which corrode combustion engines. Foam Breaker addresses the root cause of the foam and provides the bacteria with the tools they need to digest and break it up.
DIRECTIONS FOR NOCARDIA REMOVAL:
- Waste solids 20-30% (if MLSS is 3000, waste to 2100-2400 ppm)
- Add Greasebugs Foam & Grease Destroyer to the head of the plant. This will start the process of heavily breaking down FOG for the bacteria to easily digest.
- Add Greasebugs Foam Breaker to the head of the plant or aeration basin (Double dosage if possible). This will activate and stimulate the bacteria to specifically break down FOG that is feeding the Nocardia.
- Keep MLSS low for 2-3 sludge ages
- Rebuild the biomass
